Augmented acupuncture according to Covic – an innovative treatment for pollen allergies
Augmented acupuncture according to Covic is a modern development of traditional acupuncture based on scientific findings. It was developed in Konstanz by the anaesthetist Dr. med. Covic and tested at the University of Freiburg in a study of allergy sufferers with acute allergic symptoms of the upper respiratory tract. In this study, augmented acupuncture was effective in 75% of patients and clearly reduced their symptoms. Dr. Covic has worked intensively on the connection between acupuncture and neurophysiological processes in order to optimise the effectiveness of the treatment. In augmented acupuncture, special acupuncture needles are placed at corresponding acupuncture points in the area of the cervical spine and stimulated with additional weak electrical impulses. This method aims to stimulate the nervous system and activate the body’s self-healing powers. This augmentation allows both acute complaints and chronic diseases to be treated effectively. Augmented acupuncture according to Covic offers a gentle, natural way to restore balance in the body and promote general well-being.
The treatment can only be carried out if you have or have had allergic symptoms in the current allergy season.
Preventive treatment outside the allergy season does not bring any improvement. Contraindications for augmented acupuncture are a pacemaker, epilepsy and pregnancy. The therapy is given once; if symptoms persist, a follow-up treatment can be given within a few days. If symptoms continue and improvement is insufficient, further treatments are possible. This therapy is not covered by statutory health insurance.
The fee for augmented acupuncture is €80 for the first treatment and €40 for follow-up treatments within the next four weeks. If you are interested in an innovative and scientifically based treatment, please ask us – we will give you individual, expert advice.
